ELMIRA - Athens grad J.J. Babcock, a sophomore on the Elmira College men’s basketball team, has posted back-to-back double-doubles for the Soaring Eagles.

Athens grad Aaron Lane, a junior who transferred to Elmira from Keuka College, has played in each of the Eagles’ games since Christmas break ended.

On Saturday, Babcock knocked down 8 of 12 shots from the field, including a 3-pointer, to match his season-high with 20 points in a 108-95 loss to St. John Fisher. He also hauled down 13 rebounds, including six off the offensive glass, to go along with three assists, and two steals in 30 minutes of action.

Lane knocked down his only shot of the game, and finished with two points and one rebounds in four minutes of action.

On Tuesday, Babcock had 11 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and five blocked shots in a 27 minutes in a 77-75 win over Houghton College.

On the season, Babcock has started 10 of the 11 games he’s played in, and has averaged 25.4 minutes per game. He averages 11.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. He also has 10 blocked shots, nine steals, and six 3-pointers, and is shooting 47.7 percent from the field.

Lane has averaged 6.1 minutes per game in eight games this season. He averages 2.6 points,1 rebound, and 1 assist per game. His season-high is seven points, which he’s done twice this season.

Elmira College, now 5-8, returns to action tonight at Russell Sage College.
