IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: SICKLER LEADS TIOGA TO 75-68 WIN OVER MARATHON (22 PHOTOS) (2024-01-12)

TIOGA CENTER - Senior Evan Sickler pumped in 32 points to lead three scorers in double-figures, and Tioga held off Marathon in a 75-68 win here Friday night in IAC Small School boys basketball crossover action.

Sickler, who also had seven assists in the game, scored seven points, and senior Valentino Rossi added four points, but the Olympians led 15-13 after the first eight minutes.

Sickler scored nine points, including his second 3-pointer of the game, while Rossi scored four more points, and senior Karson Sindoni added a conventional three-point play in a 19-12 run that put the Tigers ahead 32-27 at the half.

Senior Gavin Fisher scored six points in the third quarter, while Sickler and Rossi added five points apiece, and Sindoni knocked down a 3-pointer, but Marathon outscored Tioga, 20-19, to trim the deficit to 51-47 heading into the final eight minutes.

Sickler scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, including his third 3-pointer and a 4-for-4 effort at the free throw line, while Rossi had six points, and Fisher added five points, including a pair of free throws down the stretch as Tioga outscored Marathon, 24-21, in the final eight minutes to nail down the win.

Rossi scored 19 points and hauled down 11 rebounds for the Tigers, while Fisher added 15 points and eight boards, and Sindoni chipped in with six points.

Tioga, now 8-3, travels to Lansing Tuesday.
