THE WEEK AHEAD: WINTER'S REGULAR SEASON COMING TO CLOSE IN WEEK CAPPED BY SECTION IV WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS (2024-02-04)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY - The final full week of the regular season is upon, and the wrestling postseason in Section IV hits its climax Saturday with the Division 2 wrestling championships.

There are 26 events on the docket, including seven on Tuesday, and five each on Thursday and Friday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (3)
• The Waverly girls host Hornell, the top-ranked girls basketball team in Class B.

• The Waverly boys travel to take on former IAC rival Lansing in a battle of state-ranked hoop teams.

TUESDAY (7)
• The Athens wrestlers wrap up the dual season with a home meet against Canton in the old gym.

• The Athens boys host Towanda in an NTL Large School basketball match-up.

• Sayre hosts Canton in an NTL Small School boys basketball contest.

• The Tioga girls host IAC Small School hoop rival S-VE.

WEDNESDAY (3)

• The Waverly boys host STAC Central Division basketball rival Owego.

• The Athens girls host Towanda in an NTL Large School basketball contest.

• Sayre hosts NTL Small School girls hoop rival Canton.

THURSDAY (5)
• The Athens boys host NP-Mansfield on the hoop hardwoods.

• The Waverly girls host STAC Central Division basketball rival Chenango Valley.

• Sayre hosts Cowanesque Valley in a boys basketball contest.

• The Athens swim teams host Towanda in the pool.

• The Tioga girls host divisional rival O-M on the hardwoods.

FRIDAY (5)
• The Athens girls host Williamson on the basketball hardwoods.

• The Waverly girls host Horseheads in a non-divisional girls hoop game.

• The Sayre girls host NTL Small School hoop rival Cowanesque Valley.

• The Tioga girls host non-league foe Harpursville in their third home game in four nights.

SATURDAY (3)
• Tioga and Waverly are in action at the Section IV, Division 2 wrestling championships.

• The Valley Bowling Center hosts the IAC Bowling Championships.
