IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: TIOGA PREVAILS IN WILD 52-41 WIN (15 PHOTOS) (2024-02-06)

SPENCER - Tioga built a 17-point halftime cushion en route to a wild 52-41 victory over longtime IAC rival Spencer-VanEtten here Tuesday night in boys basketball action.

The Tigers, playing without leading scorer, senior Evan Sickler, improve to 12-6 on the season.

Junior Shea Bailey knocked down a 3-pointer, and scored seven points in the first quarter, and senior Gavin Fisher added four points to help Tioga to a 15-7 lead after the first eight minutes.

Bailey canned a pair of 3-pointers, and was 3-for-3 from the free-throw line for nine points in the second quarter, and sophomore Brady Landmesser added four points to fuel a 13-4 blitz that gave the Tigers a 28-11 lead at the halftime intermission.

The third quarter featured pushing and shoving, a number of ejections, and a police escort from the gymnasium for a pair of fans, but by the end of the stanza, Tioga led 47-25. Senior Gavin Fisher connected on a pair of 3-pointers, senior Karson Sindoni added five points, and Bailey added four points, including his fourth trey of the game as Tioga outscored S-VE, 19-14, to increase their lead.

The Panthers closed the gap in the fourth quarter with a 16-5 run.

Bailey led Tioga with 20 points, including four 3-pointers, while Fisher scored 13 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, Sindoni added seven points, and Brady Landmesser chipped in with six points.

Exchange student Angela LoPresti led S-VE with 12 points, and Ethan Ashby added 11 points.

Tioga wraps up the regular season Monday at Ithaca.
