NTL JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: SAYRE RALLIES TO EDGE CANTON, 34-32, IN OVERTIME (2024-02-07)
Valley Sports ReportSAYRE - Sayre rallied from nine points down entering the fourth quarter to force overtime, and pulled out a 34-32 win over Canton here Tuesday evening in NTL Small School Division junior varsity boys basketball action.
The Warriors led 9-6 after the first quarter, and used an 11-4 run in the second quarter to take a 20-10 lead at the half.
Carter Bleiler knocked down a 3-pointer in the third quarter, and Sayre used a 7-6 scoring advantage in the stanza to trim the lead to 26-17 entering the final eight minutes.
Ryan Ressler pumped in six points in the fourth quarter to fuel a 12-3 run that tied the game at 29-29 at the end of regulation.
Bleiler canned a 3-pointer in overtime, and Ressler added a bucket to lift Sayre to the win.
Ressler led Sayre with 13 points, while Bleiler had nine points on a trio of 3-pointers, Declan Barry added six points, and Dalton Forrest chipped in with four points.
Sayre wraps up the regular season at home Thursday against Cowanesque Valley.
