NTL JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: ATHENS ROLLS TO 33-12 WIN OVER TOWANDA (2024-02-08)

ATHENS - Athens gradually pulled away from Towanda here Wednesday night in a 33-12 victory in NTL Large School Division junior varsity girls basketball action.

Brielle Mayo scored four points in the first quarter to help the Wildcats to an 8-4 lead after the first seven minutes.

Athens used a 6-2 spurt in the second quarter to up its advantage to 14-6 at the halftime intermission.

Kelsie Noel scored four points in the third quarter to help Athens to an 11-6 run that extended the lead to 25-12 heading into the final seven minutes.

Lizzie Gorsline scored six points in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats put the game away with an 8-0 run.

Gorsline led Athens with nine points, while Noel had eight points, and six rebounds, and Mayo had seven points, five rebounds, and seven assists.

Ava Hughes added five points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals in the win, while Olivia Lane chipped in with four points, Megan Morgan pulled down seven boards, and notched three steals, and Hannah Parrish grabbed three rebounds.

Athens hosts Williamson Friday night.
