STAC BOYS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY CLINCHES DIVISION TITLE WITH 57-28 WIN OVER OWEGO (2024-02-08)

Valley Sports Report
WAVERLY - Waverly sewed up a division title with a 57-28 win over Owego here Wednesday night in Southern Tier Athletic Conference Central Division junior varsity boys basketball action.

"I’m very proud of all 13 kids," said Waverly coach Mike Croft.

"We wanted to represent our program and all that we accomplished in the IAC," he noted. "We wanted to see if we could replicate those same successes in the STAC.

"We’ve accomplished two-thirds of our goals so far — the Valley Christmas and a division title," added Croft. "One more left, to compete for overall STAC title."

Ben Shaw knocked down a 3-pointer, and scored seven points in the first quarter, and Bryce LaForest connected from behind the arc to help the Wolverines to a 15-9 lead.

LaForest pumped in eight points in the second quarter, and Carter Davies added six points to fly an 18-6 blitz that put the Wolverines up 33-15 at the half.
