NTL SWIMMING: ATHENS GIRLS, BOYS POST CONVINCING WINS OVER TOWANDA IN FINAL DUAL OF SEASON (24 PHOTOS) (2024-02-08)

ATHENS - The Athens girls, led by sophomores Elizabeth Denlinger and Evelyn Panek, and the Athens boys, led by junior Ethan Hicks, and freshman Bradyen Pettit, each posted convincing wins over Towanda on Senior Night in the final dual swim meet of the season.

GIRLS
ATHENS 126, TOWANDA 17

Denlinger and Panek each won four events, while sophomores Olivia Thompson and Madeline Henderson were triple-winners, and senior Grace Cobb was a double-winner in Athens’ 126-17 win over Towanda.

Denlinger led a sweep in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:14.56, while Cobb was second in 2:19.57, and senior Emily Marshall was third in 2:23.53.

Denlinger also led a sweep in the 100-yard butterfly in a district-qualifying time of 1:15.53, while freshman Kaitlyn Leonard was second in 1:22.77, and junior Maryrose Bertsch was third in 1:41.71.

Panek led a sweep in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.95 seconds, while Thompson was second in 27.83 seconds, and Leonard was third in 30.01 seconds.

Panek also won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:03.98, and senior Rebecca Gifeisman was third in 1:29.76.

Denlinger and Panek teamed with Thompson, and Talada to win the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:57.19.

Denlinger, Panek, Thompson, and Cobb teamed to win the 400-yard freestyle rely in a time of 4:21.19.

Thompson led a sweep in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:13.55, while sophomore Kayla Marshall was second in 1:25.22, and Gifeisman was third in 1:39.98.

Madeline Henderson won the 200-yard IM in 2:58.69, and Bertsch was second in 2:56.89.

Henderson won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:32.28, and senior Emily Henderson was second in 1:32.41.

The foursome of Kayla Marshall, and Madeline Henderson, Leonard, and Talada teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:27.11.

Cobb led a sweep in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:15.31, while Emily Marshall was second in 6:20.34,, and Talada was third in 6:29.9.

BOYS
ATHENS 105, TOWANDA 62

Ethan Hicks and Pettitt each won four events, while freshman Eli Hicks was a triple-winner, and junior Ryan Gorman, and freshman Jacob Shores were double-winners to lead Athens to a 105-62 win over Towanda.

Ethan Hicks won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 51.9 seconds, and Eli Hicks was second in 55.92 seconds.

Ethan Hicks, Gorman, Pettitt and Eli Hicks teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:51.26.

Ethan Hicks, Gorman, and Eli Hicks teamed with freshman Dominic Musick teamed to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:39.13.

Ethan Hicks and Pettitt teamed with Shores and junior Josh Leonard to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:45.51.

Pettitt led a sweep in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 59.26 seconds, while junior Josh Leonard was second in 1:01.45, and junior Ryan Gorman was third in 1:11.19.

Pettitt also won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:09.26.

Eli Hicks won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.39 seconds, and junior Pierce Oldroyd was third in 30.75 seconds.

Freshman Jacob Shores won the 500-yard freestyle in a district-qualifying time of 5:57.1.

Sophomore Ty Lezak won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:17.14, and Musick was second in 1:17.61.

Freshman Austin Quattrini won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:16.19, and junior Aiden Oldroyd was second in 2:25.69.

Quattrini finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:17.64, ad Shores was third in 1:20.55

Athens wraps up the regular season Saturday at the WIlliamsport Coaches Invitational.
