NTL JV BOYS BASKETBALL: HOT START CARRIES ATHENS TO 50-30 WIN OVER NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD (2024-02-09)

ATHENS - Athens opened the game with a 21-4 blitz on its way to a 50-30 win over North Penn-Mansfield here Thursday night in NTL Large School junior varsity boys basketball action.

Adam Kemp and James Friend scored seven points apiece in the first quarter, and Kamdyn Wheeler knocked down a 3-pointer to help the Wildcats to a 17-point lead after the first seven minutes.

The Tigers closed the gap in the second quarter with an 11-4 run, but still trailed 25-15 at the halftime break.

Friend and Baglini scored six points apiece, and Eli Hobday added four points as Athens used a 16-12 advantage in the third quarter to extend its lead to 41-27 heading into the final seven minutes.

Baglini scored five points in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats closed the game with a 9-3 run.

Friend led Athens with 15 points, while Baglini scored 13, Kemp added 11, and Hobday chipped in with six.

Athens closes out the season Tuesday at NEB.
