NTL SWIMMING: TRIPLE-WINNER HICKS LEADS ATHENS BOYS TO SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT WILLIAMSPORT INVITE; LADY 'CATS FINISH FIFTH (24 PHOTOS) (2024-02-11)
Valley Sports ReportWILLIAMSPORT - Junior Ethan Hicks was a triple-winner to lead Athens to a second-place finish here Saturday at the Williamsport Swimming & Diving Invitational, while the Lady Wildcats placed fifth.
BOYSEthan Hicks, who also swam to a second-place finish, was joined in a pair of winning relays by freshman Eli Hicks, and junior Ronel Ankam, and on one relay by junior Ryan Gorman, and freshman Brayden Pettitt.
Ethan Hicks won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.66 seconds, while freshman Eli Hicks was seventh in 24.05 seconds, and Ankam was ninth in 24.39 seconds.
Ethan Hicks was second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.56 seconds, while Eli Hicks was sixth in 52.93 seconds, and Ankam was eighth in 55.15 seconds.
Ethan Hicks, Eli Hicks, Gorman, and Ankam teamed to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:34.16.
Ethan Hicks, Eli Hicks, Ankam, and freshman Brayden Pettitt teamed to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:30.12. The Athens foursome of juniors Aiden Oldroyd, Josh Leonard, and Pierce Oldroyd, and freshman Jacob Shores finished fourth in a time of 4:15.89
Pettitt placed third in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 58.49 seconds, and was fifth in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:08.37.
Shores placed fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:00.31, and was seventh in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:08.43.
Pettitt, Musick, Leonard, and Gorman teamed to finish fifth in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:52.29.
Leonard was sixth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:02.05, and Musick was eighth in 1:09.36
Gorman finished 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:15.89
GIRLSSophomore Evenly Panek had the best individual finish of the day for the Lady Wildcats, placing fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.05 seconds, and sophomore Olivia Thompson was 10th in 27.55 seconds.
Sophomore Elizabeth Denlinger was fifth in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:34.22, and junior Elizabeth Talada was fifth in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:19.55.
Panek, Denligner, Thompson, and senior Grace Cobb teamed to finish fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:50.92.
Emily Marshall was sixth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:13.45, while Cobb was eighth in a time of 2:16.49, and Talada was 10th in 2:22.99.
Panek was eighth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 59.89 seconds, and Denlinger was ninth in 1:00.22.
