HORSEHEADS — Horseheads jumped on Waverly early, and never let up in a 49-15 win here Wednesday night in the semifinals of the Southern Tier Athletic Conference junior varsity girls basketball championship tournament.

The Blue Raiders took control immediately with a 19-4 blitz in the first quarter, then upped its lead to 26-10 at the half.

Horseheads reeled off 14 unanswered points in the third quarter, and led 40-10 heading into the final eight minutes.

It’s the second win over Waverly in five days for the Blue Raiders, who won at Waverly, 50-23, Friday in the regular-season finale.

Lecksie Douglas led Waverly with six points, and Kaitlyn Sutton scored four points.
