Brayden Horton, a sophomore on the Liberty University baseball team, belted two home runs, and had five RBI Sunday in the Flames 23-5 rout of Middle Tennessee in Conference USA baseball action.
Horton, who hit a grand slam Friday night, was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
Horton’s first home run — a three-run shot — gave Liberty an 8-0 lead in an 11-run first-inning outburst. He added a solo home run in the fifth inning to make it 12-3.
On Saturday, Horton was 0-for-3 in a 10-0 loss to MTSU.
Horton, who was sidelined early by a hand injury, has three home runs, and 11 RBI in his last 10 at-bats covering four games.
On the season, Horton is hitting .225 (9 hits in 40 ABs) with nine runs scored, one triple, four home runs, and 15 RBI. He has a .340 on-base percentage, and a .575 slugging percentage for a .915 OPS.
Liberty, now 10-13, returns to action when it hosts the nation’s top-ranked Wake Forest Tuesday. It hosts Sam Houston this weekend in a three-game series.
