THE VALLEY — Waverly senior Paige Robinson led Waverly to a win in its first-ever flag football game, while Athens senior thrower Emma Pernaselli had a big week, and senior Will Crossett led the Sayre baseball team to its first win of the season. They are the Valley Sports Report / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending March 30.

WAVERLY ROBINSON, ATHENS’ PERNASELLI ARE BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS "ATHLETES OF THE WEEK"
Robinson accounted for six touchdowns — three rushing and three passing - in Waverly’s season-opening, 64-32 win at Windsor.

Robinson completed 7 of 10 passes for 136 yards, and three TDs, while running for 176 yards, and three TDs on nine carries, including a 78-yard TD run (field is 80 yards long) on the final play of the first half to give the Wolverines a 39-7 halftime lead.

On Tuesday, Pernaselli won three events to lead Athens to wins over Sayre and Towanda.

Pernaselli won the discus (99-feet), the javelin (88-feet, 1-inch), and the shot put (31-feet, 1 1/2-inch).

On Thursday, Pernaselli led Athens to its only first-place finish at the Chenango Forks Rotary Relays. She teamed with freshman Abby Wagner to win the discus relay. Pernaselli had a toss of 31-feet, while Wagner checked in at 22-feet, 4-inches. The duo’s combined effort of 53-feet, 4-inches topped the field.

Pernaselli also ran on the throwers 4-by-100 relay that finished second in a time of 1:01.88.

SAYRE’S CROSSETT NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"

Crossett came through with his bat, and his arm to help Sayre to its first win of the season — a 16-2 victory at Williamson.

Crossett stroked four singles, scored three runs, stole two bases, and had four RBI at the plate, and earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits, while striking out seven in 4 1/3 innings on the mound.
