WAVERLY’S JOHNSON, CHANDLER TRIPLE-WINNERS

MANSFIELD - Waverly’s sprinters dominated Thursday at the Molly Dry Track & Field Invitational, while Sayre junior Marco Quiros, and Athens sophomore Brenden Comstock, and junior Jase Babcock also had big days.

Seniors Ralph Johnson and Micah Chandler were triple-winners, and junior Kolsen Keathley, who placed in four events, was a double-winner for the Wolverines.

Corning won the team title with 201 points, well ahead of runner-up Bradford Area, which tallied 121 points. Waverly was fifth with 71.5 points, Athens was sixth with 60 points, and Sayre was eighth with 30 points.

Johnson won the 100-meter dash in 10.81 seconds, while Quiros was third in 11.47 seconds, Athens senior Kelley Reid placed fourth in 11.56 seconds, Keathley finished fifth in 11.57 seconds, and Waverly junior Xavier Watson was seventh in 11.68 seconds.

Chandler won the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.16 seconds, while Quiros was second in 23.71 seconds, Keathley placed third in 23.82 seconds, and Reid was fourth in 24.11 seconds. Athens junior Peter Jones finished ninth in 25.5 seconds

The Waverly foursome of Johnson, Watson, Keathley, and Chandler won the 400-meter relay in a time of 43.68 seconds, while the Athens quartet of Reid, Babcock, senior Jack Ryan, and Brayden Onofre placed fifth in 47.04 seconds. The Sayre foursome of Quirors, sophomore Donte Rubeck, and juniors Nick Pellicano and Ryan Ressler placed eighth in 48.25 seconds.

Johnson, Keathley, and Chandler also teamed with senior Charlie Larrabee to win the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 3:34.13.

Comstock won the discus with a toss of 137-feet, 4-inches, while Waverly senior Jacob Benjamin was third at 122-feet, 1-inch, and Athens senior Kaden Parrish was fourth at 114-feet, 9-inches. Waverly sophomore Troy Beeman finished ninth at 107-feet, 7-inches.

Comstock placed second in the shot put with a heave of 39-feet, 6 1/2-inches, while Sayre senior David Huang was fourth at 38-feet, 6 3/4-inches, and Benjamin was sixth at 37-feet, 9 1/2-inches. Beeman finished ninth at 37-feet, 4 3/4-inches, while Sayre freshman Hudson Malanoski was 11th at 36-feet, 10 3/4-inches, and Athens senior Josh Nittinger was 13th at 36-feet, 1-inch.

Babcock placed second in the long jump with a leap of 19-feet, 8 1/2-inches, while Waverly junior Seth Noto was 13th at 17-feet, 2 1/2-inches. Babcock also placed fourth in the high jump at 5-feet, 6-inches, while Watson was sixth at 5-feet, 6-inches. Athens sophomore James Friend was 15th at 5-feet, 2-inches.

Quiros finished third in the 400-meter dash in 54.62 seconds, while Waverly senior Charlie Larrabee was ninth in 56.63 seconds, Friend was 11th in 57.54 seconds, and Waverly freshman Rylen Larson was 14th in 59.77 seconds.

The Waverly foursome of seniors Liam Wright, and Braylon DeKay, and juniors Nick Mattison, and Riley Pipher finished third in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 9:29.81, and the Sayre quartet of freshmen Glen VanBenthuysen, Hunter Kimball, Caleb Grover, and Dominik Musick placed fifth in 10:54.53.

Athens freshman Graham Wanck finished third in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 10:20.01, and Wright placed seventh in 11:05.48. Athens freshmen Lucas Persun (11:37.35), Alex Arcesi (12:01.64), and Matt Rossettie (12:08.52) finished 10th, 12th, and 13th, respectively.

Babcock finished sixth in the triple jump with a hop, skip, and jump of 37-feet, 2-inches, while Friend was 10th at 35-feet, 10 1/2-inches, Jones was 12th at 34-feet, 8-inches, and Athens senior Davin Spencer was 13th at 34-feet, 6-inches.

Athens senior Sean Clare finished eighth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:15.67, while Mattison was 13th in 2:21.57, and Waverly sophomore Hayden Howe was 14th in 2:22.41.

DeKay finished ninth in the 2,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 7:52.01.

Waverly senior Nehemiah Anthony finished ninth in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 20.36 seconds, and Sayre freshman Declan Barry was 13th in 22.48 seconds.

Parrish finished 10th in the javelin with a throw of 105-feet, 3-inches, while Comstock was 12th at 102-feet, 7-inches, and Malanoski was 13th at 101-feet, 8-inches.

Waverly freshman Rhylee Stotler finished 11th in the pole vault at 9-feet, 6-inches, and Sayre sophomore Carter Bleiler was 13th at 8-feet.

Athens sophomore Alex Thompson finished 12th in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 51.54 seconds, and Barry was 13th in 52.23 seconds.

Persun finished 13th in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:19.61, and VanBenthuysen was 14th.
