THE WEEK AHEAD: BUSIEST WEEK EVER FACES PROSPECTS OF MORE RAIN (2024-04-14)

THE VALLEY — With the games piling up, this week’s schedule is one of the busiest ever with a whopping 48 events on the docket, but there’s more rain in the forecast from Wednesday through Saturday.

There’s two games being played today, and another scheduled for next Sunday. If the rain continues, Sunday games for the remainder of the spring could be commonplace.

This week’s schedules has 10 events on Friday, and nine apiece on Monday and Tuesday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (9)
•  Sayre baseball and softball hosts Sullivan County.

•  Waverly baseball and softball hosts Chenango Forks.

•  Tioga golfers host Union Springs / Port Byron at Shepard Hills.

TUESDAY (9)
•  Athens baseball and softball hosts Northeast Bradford.

•  Waverly hosts Owego in its first home track of the season.

•  Tioga hosts Candor, S-VE, Southern Cayuga, and Union Springs in a five-team track meet.

•  Tioga golfers host Candor at Tioga Country Club.

WEDNESDAY (7)
•  Tioga baseball and softball hosts Groton.

•  Waverly flag football hosts Norwich under the lights at Memorial Stadium.

•  Waverly tennis hosts STAC Central rival Chenango Valley.

THURSDAY (6)
•  Athens baseball and softball hosts NTL Large School rival Towanda.

FRIDAY (10)
•  The Waverly boys host Tioga in a non-league golf match at Shepard Hills.

•  Waverly baseball hosts Chenango Forks in the finale of a three-game series.

•  Waverly softball hosts Oneonta.


SATURDAY (6)
•  Athens hosts crosstown baseball rival Sayre.

•  Tioga hosts Valley rival Sayre on the softball diamond.

•  Waverly baseball hosts Montoursville.

SUNDAY (1)
•  Sayre hosts crosstown softball rival Athens.
