NTL SOFTBALL: UNBEATEN NP-LIBERTY BLANKS SAYRE, 10-0 (2024-04-16)

LIBERTY — Haley Litzelman tossed a 3-hitter, and did the most damage at the plate for unbeaten North Penn-Liberty in a 10-0 five-inning win over Sayre here Tuesday afternoon in NTL softball action.

The Redskins only committed two errors in the game, but they resulted in NP-L’s first seven runs of the game, including six runs in a back-breaking third inning that put the Mounties up 7-0.

Sophomore Olivia Thompson, and juniors Abbie McGaughey, and Mercedez Haggerty each had singles to account for the Redskins’ three hits.

Litzelman fanned nine and walked one in five innings to earn the win.

Litzelman was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored, and two RBI, and Mackenzie Tice tripled and singled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs to pace NP-L at the plate.

Freshman Zoe Ward was tagged with the loss, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits and five walks, while striking out one in 4 2/3 innings.

Sayre, now 2-3, returns to action Friday at Canton.
