Valley Sports ReportCONKLIN, N.Y. — Unbeaten Susquehanna Valley jumped on Waverly early, and rolled to a 12-0 five-inning win here Monday afternoon in STAC softball action.
The Sabers scored three runs in the first inning, and four more in the second inning to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
After scoring a run in the third inning, SV invoked the 12-run "mercy rule" with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Waverly managed just three hits in the loss — a lead-off double in third inning by junior Makayla Esau, who was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple, a two-out double in the third by sophomore Maddie Cron, and a two-out single in the fourth inning by senior Olivia Robinson.
Waverly, now 5-3, returns to action Wednesday at Chenango Valley.
