CHANDLER NAMED MEET MVP; JOHNSON BREAKS OWN SCHOOL RECORD

HORNELL - Triple-winner senior Micah Chandler hit the N.Y. State Super Standard in a third event and was named the meet MVP, and double-winner senior Ralph Johnson broke his own school record in the 200-meter dash. The duo led the Waverly boys to a second-place finish here Friday at the Hornell Track & Field Invitational.

Freshman Makenzie Olmsted posted the best finish of the day for the Lady Wolverines, who finished 10th in the team standings.

BOYS
Wellsville won the team title with 72.5 points, edging out Waverly, which had 69.5 points. Bath-Haverling was third with 60 points.

Chandler won the 100-meter dash in 11.25 seconds, while junior Kolsen Keathley was third in 11.68 seconds, and junior Xavier Watson was fifth in 11.88 seconds.

Johnson led a sweep of the top three spot in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 21.86 seconds - breaking his own school record of 21.95 seconds, while Chandler was second at 22.29 seconds, which hits the N.Y. State Super Standard automatically qualify him for the State meet. Keathley finished third in 22.91 seconds.

Chandler and Johnson have both hit the Super Standard in the 100 and 200, as well as the 400-meter relay.

Johnson, Chandler, Keathley, and Watson teamed to win the 400-meter relay in a time of 43.81 seconds.

Johnson, Chandler, and Keathley teamed with senior Charlie Larrabee to win the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 3:31.04

Larrabee placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in 55.36 seconds.

Senior Braylon DeKay placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 12:31.6.

Watson was sixth in the high jump at 5-feet, 4-inches, and senior Thomas Morley was 10th at 5-feet, 2-inches.

Senior Jacob Benjamin was sixth in the discus with a toss of 118-feet, 5-inches, and sophomore Troy Beeman was eighth at 111-feet, 3-inches.

Beeman placed sixth in the shot put with a heave of 41-feet, 4 1/2-inches, and Benjamin was ninth at 39-feet 6 1/2-inches.

Junior Seth Noto finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 18-feet, 9-inches. Noto was also ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 35-feet, 6-inches, and Morley was 11th at 34-feet, 10-inches.

The foursome of juniors Nic Mattison, and Riley Pipher, sophomore Hayden Howe, and freshman Chase Hine teamed to finish eighth in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 9:19.99.

Mattison finished 10th in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:20.69, and Howe was 13th in 2:22.36.

Hine was 12th in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:23.82, and Pipher was 17th in 5:39.7.

Senior Nehemiah Anthony was 13th in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.85 seconds, and freshman Jayden Washington was 17th in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 14:51.26.

GIRLS
Hornell won the team title with 96 points, well ahead of runner-up Allegany-Limestone, which had 68 points, and third-place Dansville, which had 58. Waverly finished 10th in the 16-team field with 31 points.

Makenzie Olmsted finished second in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 5:21.15.

Makenzie Olmsted teamed with sophomore Mackenzie Chamberlain, junior Maddie Olmsted, and senior Liz Vaughn to place third in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 11:05.99.

Sophomore Haley Larrabee, seniors Caprice Haney, and Haylie Davenport, and 8th-grader Kaylin Twedt teamed to finish third in the 400-meter relay in a time of 4:30.82.

Larrabee, Davenport, and Twedt teamed with sophomore Kittle to finish fourth in the 400-meter relay in a time of 53.66 seconds.

Senior Mackenzie LaForest placed fourth in the shot put with a heave of 30-feet, 9-inches. She was
eighth in the discus with a toss of 80-feet, 9-inches.

Kittle placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.1 seconds, while Chamberlain finished sixth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 12:25.04, and Haney was seventh in the high jump at 4-feet, 6-inches.

Twedt placed eighth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.53 seconds, while Vaughn finished eighth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:41.26, and junior Harper Minaker was 14th in 2:46.57.

Larrabee finished 10th in the 400-meter dash in 1:07.81. She was also 16th in the long jump at 13-feet, 5 1/2-inches.

Waverly returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Seton Catholic.
