CORNING - Sophomores Mackenzie Chamberlain and Haley Larrabee, and senior Mackenzie LaForest each had top-three finishes, and all three of its relays finished in the top four to lead the Waverly girls to a fourth-place finish here Friday at the Corning Fast Times Track & Field Invitational, while senior Liam Wright logged the Wolverines’ only win, leading the boys to seventh place.
GIRLSCorning ran away with the team title with 232 points, while runner-up Lansing had 94 points, third-place Horseheads had 67 points, and fourth-place Waverly tallied 49 points.
Chamberlain logged the best finish of the day for the Lady Wolverines, placing second in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 12:29.13, while freshman Taylor Sinsabaugh was ninth in 13:50.59.
LaForest finished third in the shot put with a heave of 30-feet, 9 3/4-inches. She was ninth in the discus with a toss of 77-feet, 8-inches.
Larrabee finished third in the 400-meter run in a time of 1:06.46.
Chamberlain teamed with senior Elizabeth Vaughn, junior Maddy Olmsted, and freshman Mackenzie Olmsted to finish third in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 11:13.79.
Larrabee teamed with 8th-grader Kaylin Twedt, sophomore Mira Kittle, and senior Haylie Davenport to finish fourth in the 400-meter relay in a time of 53.98. seconds.
Larrabee, Twedt, and Davenport teamed with senior Caprice Haney to finish fourth in the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 4:32.66.
Twedt finished fifth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.72 seconds, and Davenport was 12th at 14.03 seconds.
Haney finished sixth in the high jump at 4-feet, 6-inches.
Vaughn finished seventh in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:41.66, and junior Harper Minaker was seventh in 2:42.76.
Kittle placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 18.72 seconds.
Mackenzie Olmsted was ninth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 5:24.59.
BOYSThe host Hawks won the team title with 219 points, well ahead of runner-up Horseheads, which had 104 points, and Lansing, which finished third with 86 points. Waverly finished seventh with 38 points.
Wright won the 3,200-meter run in a time of 10:54.28.
Wright also teamed with senior Braylon DeKay, junior Nic Mattison, and sophomore Hayden Howe to finish fourth in the 3,2000-meter relay in a time of 9:40.04.
Senior Jacob Benjamin finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 114-feet, 5-inches. Benjamin was also fifth in the shot put with a heave of 40-feet, 2 3/4-inches, and sophomore Troy Beeman was 10th in 38-feet, 8-inches.
Junior Seth Noto finished fifth in the 100-meter dash in 11.83 seconds, and senior Charlie Larrabee was seventh in 11.89 seconds. Noto finished ninth in the long jump at 18-feet, 1 1/4-inches.
Senior Thomas Morley finished sixth in the triple jump at 35-feet, 2 1/4-inches, and Noto finished ninth in the triple jump at 34-feet, 7 1/4-inches.
Larrabee finished sixth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.97 seconds.
DeKay placed seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:59.11. He was 11th in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:08.4.
Mattison finished eighth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:13.35, and Howe was ninth in 2:16.67.
