SECTION IV BASEBALL: SECOND-SEEDED WAVERLY, TIOGA WILL OPEN POSTSEASON PLAY AT HOME (2024-05-14)

THE VALLEY — Waverly and Tioga will both open play at home in the upcoming Section IV baseball playoffs.

CLASS B
Waverly, now 13-5, is the second seed in the upcoming Class B playoffs, and will host seventh-seeded Chenango Valley (8-12) in the quarterfinals on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

The winner will face the winner of the quarter-final match-up between third-seeded Lansing (13-4) and sixth-seeded Chenango Forks (8-10) Wednesday at 4:30 at highest remaining seed’s field.

On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded Oneonta receives a bye into the quarterfinals, where it will face the winner of the opening-round contest between eighth-seeded Edison (9-10) and ninth-seeded Sidney (7-8).

In the other contest, Schuyler (12-6-1) will host Susquehanna Valley (7-10) at Odessa-Montour.

CLASS C
Tioga, now 12-5, is the fifth seed, and will host Walton / Donwsville (7-10) Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the opening round of the Class C playoffs.

The winner will travel to fourth-seeded Unatego-Franklin Monday.

At the top of the bracket, top-seeded Union Springs (17-0), will host the winner of the opening-round game between eighth-seeded Newark Valley (7-8) and ninth-seeded Newfield (7-7) on Monday.

At the bottom of the bracket, second-seeded Trumansburg (12-3-1) hoss the winner of the opening-round match-up between seventh-seeded Seton Catholic (6-13) and 10th-seeded Southern Cayuga (6-7), while third-seeded Moravia (13-4) will host the winner of the game between sixth-seeded B-G (9-6) and 11th-seeded Delhi (6-7).
