DISTRICT 4 TRACK & FIELD: SAYRE SPRINTER QUIROS, HURDLER SHIKANGA ADVANCE TO SATURRDAY'S FINALS (14 PHOTOS) (2024-05-16)
Valley Sports ReportWILLIAMSPORT — Juniors Marco Quiros and Rose Shikanga advanced to the finals Saturday in their respective sprint events here Thursday on Day 1 of the District 4, Class AA Track & Field Championships.
Quiros ran the third-fastest time in the 100-meter dash preliminaries, clocking in at 11.42 seconds to qualify for the semifinals.
He was fourth in the semifinals in a time of 11.34 seconds to advance to Saturday’s finals.
Junior Rose Shikanga had the 10th-fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking in at 17.24 seconds to qualify for the semifinals.
She was seventh in the semifinals in a time of 16.96 seconds to advance to Saturday’s finals.
Senior David Huang finished 12th in the shot put at 42-feet, 1-inch, and freshman Hudson Malanoski was 20th at 38-feet, 4-inches.
Freshmen Glen VanBenthuysen, Dominik Musick, and Declan Barry, and senior Hunter Kimball placed 15th in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 9:57.27.
Day 2 action begins at 9 a.m. Saturday.
