LYNCHBURG, Va. — Sayre grad Brayden Horton, a sophomore on the Liberty University baseball team, had hits in two of his final three regular-season games.

The Flames finished the regular season at 22-32, including a six-game losing streak to end it.

Liberty will play fourth-seeded Sam Houston Thursday night in the opening round of the Conference USA Championships, which is being hosted by Louisiana Tech.

Liberty swept Sam Houston in a three-game series in late March.

On Thursday, Horton was 1-for-4 in a 4-3 loss to Louisiana Tech.

On Friday, in a 12-8 loss to La. Tech, Horton was 1-for-5 with a single, one run scored, and one RBI. He was hitless Saturday in a 10-1 setback.

Horton hit .289 (44 hits in 152 at-bats) during the regular season with a team-high 11 home runs to go along with 32 runs scored, six doubles, one triple, and 39 RBI, which was second on the team.

Horton walked 22 times, and was hit by pitches a team-high 12 times for an on-base percentage of .417. He had a slugging percentage of .559, and an OPS of .976 — both second on the team.
