ALFRED, N.Y. — Athens grad Megan Bennett was a first-team All-Empire 8 Conference selection in recent voting by the league’s coaches.

Bennett capped her career the best season in her four-year career. She was 20-6 with a 2.15 ERA, to go along with 152 strikeouts, and just 17 base on balls in 144 1/3 innings. She had 14 complete games, and six shutouts.

Bennett finished her career with a 42-22 record, with 10 saves, and a 2.60 ERA. She had 388 strikeouts and 69 walks in 374 2/3 innings. She also had 28 complete games, and 10 shutouts.

Bennett leaves the Alfred program as the single-season saves (8) and career saves (10) record-holder. She also holds the single-game record for strikeouts (17).

She is second all-time in program history in wins (42) and strikeouts (388), and third all-time for single-season strikeouts (152), career shutouts (10) and single-season shutouts (6).

Bennett also the nation with eight saves in 2022, and was the D-III "National Pitcher of the Week" during the 2022 season.
