YOUTH FIELD HOCKEY: SOUTHERN TIER STORM TRAVEL PROGRAM RACKS UP THREE FIRST-PLACE FINISHES AT 'EAST COAST TURF CUP' DURING SPRING PLAY (2024-05-30)

FREDERICA, Del. — The Southern Tier Storm Field Hockey travel program has been busy this spring playing in tournaments in the region, and as far away as Delaware, Connecticut, and New Jersey.

In its most recent outing, the U14 and U12 teams both posted 4-0 records to place first here at the East Coast Turf Cup, while the U19 team went 3-0-1 to place third.

The Southern Tier Storm Field Hockey program joins with a field hockey program out of Whitesboro (Section III near Utica) for tournaments.

The following are the tournaments the program has played in with each age level represented and their place-finish. In parenthesis are the Tioga County girls who played in that tournament.

MAY 11
East Coast Turf Cup

First Place, U14:

First Place, U19: (Tioga’s Abbie Englebert, and Newark Valley’s Kayden Rockwell.)

Third Place, U16: (SVEC’s Kendall Gentile, Kaidince Root, Claire Rollins, and Hayden Gehres.)

Fourth Place, U14 Teal:
(Tioga’s Cora Szymanski and Callie Szymanski) recorded a 3-1-2 record, and U19 (Tioga’s Abbie Englebert, and SVEC’s Lily Kunzman.)

The next tournament for the U16 and U19 teams is Saturday at Hartwick College. All age groups will be competing June 9 at the Limelight Tournament at Spooky Nook in Manheim, Pa.
