NEW YORK STATE TRACK & FIELD: WAVERLY'S JOHNSON, 400-METER RELAY EARN TOP SEEDS AT STATE MEET (2024-06-05)

NORTH SYRACUSE - Senior Ralph Johnson is a top-two seed in both of his individual events, and the Waverly 400-meter relay team is the top seed here this weekend at the New York State Division 2 Track & Field Championships.

Johnson is the top seed in the 200-meter dash with a seed time of 21.52 seconds. He is the second seed in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.65 — just .03 off the top seed Charlie Garcia of Hampton Bays.

Johnson is not the only Wolverines running in two events. Senior Micah Chandler is the 15th seed in the 200 at 22.29 seconds, and is the18th seed in the 100 at 11.08 seconds.

Johnson and Chandler will team with juniors Kolsen Keathley and Xavier Watson as the top seed in the 400-meter dash at a time of 42.52 seconds.

The preliminaries of the 100-meter dash are slated to begin at 2 p.m. Friday, while the 200-meter dash prelims are scheduled to begin at 3:55 p.m. The 400-meter relay is set to begin at 5 p.m.

The finals for all three events are Saturday.

Field events begin at 11 a.m. Friday, and track events get under way at 12:30 p.m.
