WAVERLY LITTLE LEAGUE: WAVERLY GRAY CAPTURES 'B' CROWN WITH 4-2 WIN OVER WAVERLY RED (2024-07-08) Valley Sports Report WAVERLY - Waverly Gray scored two runs in the top of the first inning, and led wire-to-wire in a 4-2 win over Waverly Red in the championship game of the season-ending Waverly Little League "B" Tournament here Saturday morning.
Jonah Dolinich and Jonah Raney each scored in the top of the first inning to give Gray a 2-0 lead, but Red answered with one run — scored by Blake Wolcott — in the home half of the first to close the gap to 2-1
Blayze Moody scored a run in the fourth inning, and Leevi Sharpsteen added a run in the fifth to help the Gray to a 4-1 lead.
Bentley Jayne scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning for the Red to provide the final margin.
