ATHENS - Athens jumped ahead early, and led wire-to-wire in a 14-7 win over Towanda to advance to the championship game of the District 15 Little League Minors Division softball playoffs.

Athens will now play the winner of the consolation bracket finals between Southern Tioga and Towanda on July 7 at Wysox.

Athens, playing as the visiting team, scored three runs in the top of first inning, led 5-2 after two innings, and extended the lead to 12-3 after four innings.

Molly McGrath tossed a no-hitter, but allowed six runs — all earned, while striking out 11 and walking 12.

Sadie Wanck singled twice, scored three runs, and drove in two runs, while Terrianna Owens tripled and singled, scored three runs, and knocked in one run, and Lindsay Ahern singled twice, and scored two runs to pace Waverly’s nine-hit attack.

McGrath singled, scored two runs, and drove in one run in the win, while Amelia Braunbeck singled, scored one run, and knocked in one run, Haylee Bickhart singled, scored one run, and had one RBI, and Amelia Archibald, Ava Rhodes, and Milah Garrison each crossed the plate once.
