(UPDATED) YOUTH SOFTBALL (12U): WAVERLY RALLIES WITH SIX RUNS FOR WALK-OFF, 12-11, WIN OVER VALLEY ASA (24 PHOTOS) (2024-07-02)

TIOGA CENTER - Waverly scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out a 12-11 walk-off win over Valley ASA to advance to the championship game of the Tioga County 12U Softball Tournament.

Valley ASA jumped ahead early with four runs in the top of the first inning, A three-run rally in the top of the third gave Valley ASA an 8-3 lead, but Waverly answered with three runs in the home half to make it 8-6.

Valley ASA scored three more runs in the top of the fourth inning to take an 11-6 lead, and held that lead until the bottom of the sixth inning.

In the home half of the sixth, Waverly scored its first run on an error, and its second on a fielder’s choice groundout off the bat of Jami to close the gap to 11-8.

Back-to-back one-out RBI singles by Aniyah Rought and Raygane Oakes trimmed the deficit to 11-10.

With two outs, a bases-loaded walk tied the game, and an error gave Waverly the win.

Oakes led Waverly's seven-hit attack with two hits, one run scored, and one RBI, while Kendall Foust singled, scored two runs, and had three RBI, and Rought singled, scored three runs, and drove in one run, and Sydney Donovan singled and knocked in two runs.

Bhree Foust singled, scored one run, and drove in one run in the win, while Amelia Wright singled and scored one run, Helen Fourie scored two runs, and knocked in one run, Jamie Koenig scored one run, and drove in one run, and Brinley Rabel crossed the plate once.

Donovan, who pitched the first three innings and the last two, earned the win, striking out seven in five innings.

Hailey Smith led Valley ASA with three hits, including a triple, two runs scored, and one RBI, and Mylee Medina homered, scored one run, and drove in two runs, and Alayna Lackey singled and scored two runs.

Ivy Brown singled and scored one run, while Morgan Smith scored two runs, and Evelyn Roy, Juliet Roy, and Lexi Thompson each crossed the plate once.

Hailey Smith struck out 10 for Valley ASA in 5 2/3 innings.

Waverly advances to play Tioga Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the championship game of the double-elimination tournament.
