DISTRICT 6 LITTLE LEAGUE (MAJORS): WAVERLY ROLLS PAST ELMIRA, 20-3, IN QUARTERFINALS (24 PHOTOS) (2024-07-03)

ELMIRA -- Waverly scored in every inning en route to a 20-3 win over Elmira in the quarterfinals of the District 6 Little League Majors Division baseball playoffs.

Waverly took a quick lead with two runs in the top of the first inning, but Elmira answered with three runs in the home half of the inning.

Waverly grabbed the lead for good with three runs in the top of the second, then scored three runs in the third and fourth innings to stretch its advantage to 11-3 after four innings.

After tacking on a run in the fifth inning, Waverly closed out the scoring with eight runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Brayden Bowman survived a rough first inning to earn the win, allowing three runs on two hits, while striking out 10 and walking two.

Cooper Skovira closed out the game with two innings of one-hit relief, striking out five and walking two.

Liam Barton doubled and singled, scored three runs, and had two RBI to pace Waverly’s 10-hit attack, while Triton Floyd doubled, scored three runs, and had three RBI, and Mike Hendershot singled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs.

Bowman singled, scored two runs, and drove in one run in the win, while Skovira and Christian Hiralez each singled, scored one run, and knocked in one run,Cole Rylott singled, and scored two runs, Chase Lathrop doubled and scored one run, and Wyatt Sharpsteen crossed the plate once.

Waverly now travels to take on Big Flats Sunday at 11 a.m. in the semifinals.
