DISTRICT 6 LITTLE LEAGUE (MINORS): HORSEHEADS KNOCKS OUT WAVERLY, 16-1, IN QUARTERFINALS (2024-07-06)

HORSEHEADS -- Horseheads took advantage of 11 base on balls, and rapped out nine hits in a 16-1 three-inning win over Waverly here Saturday morning in the quarterfinals of the District 6 Little League Minors Division baseball playoffs.

Waverly took an immediate 1-0 lead when Brayden Bowman led off the game with a single, stole second, moved to third base on a passed ball, and scored on a ground out off the bat of Caster Witman.

The rest of the game was all Horseheads, which plated four runs in the home half of the first, nine more in the second, and three in the third to invoke the “mercy rule.”

Waverly’s only other base runner in the contest was Logan Naylor, who was hit by a pitch in the top of the third inning.
