DISTRICT 6 LITTLE LEAGUE (MAJORS): WAVERLY PLAYS TOP-SEEDED BIG FLATS CLOSE UNTIL LATE IN 7-0 LOSS (2024-07-07)

BIG FLATS — Waverly played top-seeded Big Flats close for five innings, but ultimately bowed out of the District 6 Majors Division playoffs with a 7-0 loss in the semifinals here Sunday morning.

Big Flats, playing as the visitors, scored a run in the top of the third, but Waverly starter Brayden Bowman kept them off the board into the fifth inning when reliever Ryan Skovira entered the game and finished the inning to keep Waverly within a run at 1-0.

Big Flats banged out six of its 12 hits in the sixth inning, and plated six runs to extend its lead to 7-0.

Levi Couse singled with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, but was stranded there.

Bowman’s two-out single in the fourth inning was Waverly’s only other hit of the game.

Bowman took a tough-luck loss for Waverly, allowing one run on six hits, while striking out seven and walking two in 4 1/3 innings.
