YOUTH BASEBALL (10U): MAINE-ENDWELL PULLS AWAY IN 12-5 WIN OVER WAVERLY (2024-07-15)

OWEGO — Maine-Endwell took the lead early, and scored in every inning to pull away for a 12-5 win over Waverly here Sunday at the Owego 10U Baseball Tournament.

M-E scored two runs in the top of the first inning, and two more in the second to take a 4-0 lead.

Waverly got on the board in the bottom of the second inning to close the gap to 4-1, but M-E took control in the top of the third with five runs to extend the lead to 9-1.

M-E stretched its lead to 12-2 after 4 1/2 innings, before Waverly provided the final margin with three runs in the home half of the fifth inning.

Brody Payne tripled and drove in one run, and Logan Naylor singled, scored one run, and knocked in one run to pace Waverly’s five-hit attack.

Beau Bauman and Easton Beach each singled and scored one run for Waverly, while Jonah Raney added a single, and Robert Henderson and Jackson Mosier each scored one run.

Payne had the best turn on the mound for Waverly, allowing two runs — one earned — on two hits, while striking out three and walking one in 1 2/3 innings of relief.
