YOUTH BASEBALL (10U): SAYRE FALLS TO U-E, 13-9, IN SEMIS OF VESTAL 10U TOURNAMENT (2024-07-29)

VESTAL — Union-Endicott turned the tables on Sayre, rallying from an early deficit to post a 13-9 win here Sunday in the semifinals of bracket play at the Vestal 10U Baseball Tournament.

With the win, fourth-seeded U-E avenged a 22-7 loss to top-seeded Sayre on Saturday.

U-E took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but Sayre answered with four runs in the bottom of the second inning in a rally that featured consecutive singles by Landon Snyder, Xander Parrish, and Lucas Wolcott to load the bases, two wild pitches to give Sayre a 2-1 lead, and RBI groundouts by Kyle Ball, and Aiden Hughey to make it 4-1.

U-E took the lead for good with five runs in the top of the third inning,then stretched its lead to 13-5 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Sayre closed the gap to 13-9 with four runs in the home half of the sixth, but couldn’t get any closer. Sayre’s rally featured a two-RBI triple by Jakobi Smith, and an RBI single by Razier Vanhousen.

Colton Nasoni singled twice, scored two runs, and drove in one run, and Vanhousen tripled and singled, scored one run, and had two RBI to pace Sayre’s 12-hit attack, while Connor Kmetz rapped a pair of doubles and scored once, and Parrish singled twice and scored one run.

Smith tripled and had two RBI for Sayre, while Snyder, Parrish, and Wolcott each singled and scored one run, Ball and Hughey each had one RBI, and Blakelee Kithcart crossed the plate once.
