NTL GOLF: HICKS, SAXON LEAD ATHENS TO SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT COUDERSPORT TOURNAMENT (2024-08-12)

COUDERSPORT — Sophomore Eli Hicks paced four Athens golfers in the 80s here Monday to lead the Wildcats to a second-place finish in the 17-team field at the season-opening Coudersport Tournament.

The Wildcats fired a three-player aggregate score of 254 — just 2 shots off the pace off first-place St. Mary.

“It was a great warm-up tournament to get us ready for league play,” said Athens coach Lenny Pientka.

Hicks fired an 83 on the 5,811-yard, par-72 Coudersport Golf Club course, while senior Dylan Saxon shot an 84, and freshman Ty Owen carded an 87.

Senior Brady Darrow added an 88 for the Wildcats, and freshman Brooke Lyon tacked on a 98.

The three-time defending NTL champion Wildcats will open league play Wednesday at Towanda.
