Valley Sports Report
WELLSBORO — Athens sophomore Eli Hicks and senior Dylan Saxon were at the top of the leaderboard to help Athens to its 18th consecutive win here Monday in NTL golf action.

The Wildcats shot a four-player aggregate of 322 to top second-place Towanda by 11 strokes. North Penn-Mansfield was third at 367, while Wyalusing was fourth at 371, Cowanesque Valley fifth at 396, Wellsboro sixth at 408, and Sayre seventh at 530.

Hicks fired a 73 on the 6,010 yards, par-71 Tyoga Country Club, while Saxon shot a 74.

Freshman Brooke Lyon carded an 86 for the Wildcats, and freshman Ty Owen had an 89.

“It was a good day all around,” said Athens coach Lenny Pientka. “Everyone played some great golf. Eli and Dylan had super rounds on a tough golf course.

“I’m especially proud of the two freshman Brooke Lyon and Ty Owen,” added Pientka. “There two scores were counted for our  team total to win the match. They came up big today.”

Senior Brady Darrow had a non-scoring round of 90 for the Wildcats, and Lucas Greninger tacked on a 95.

Sophomore Shaine Strickland led Sayre with a 111, and Brayden Schrader had a 116.

The NTL golfers return to action Thursday at the Towanda Country Club.
