VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: ATHENS' DAVIDSON, LYON NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSRUCTION 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (2024-09-01)

THE VALLEY — Athens sophomore Connor Davidson had a monster game in leading the Wildcats to their first win of the season on the gridiron, while Athens freshman Brooke Lyon had a career-round to help the Wildcats extend their win streak on the links. They are the Valley Sports Report / Bishop Brothers Construction “Athletes of the Week,” for the week ending Aug. 31.

ATHENS’ DAVIDSON NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”
Davidson accounted for five TDs to lead Athens in a 44-6 win over Northwest Area Friday at Alumni Stadium.

Davidson rushed for 179 yards and 12 TDs, scoring on runs of 23, 1, 5, and 69 yards. He also completed 5 of 9 passes for 89 yards, and one TD.

Davidson also led the Wildcat defense with eight tackles, including three solo stops.

Honorable Mentions: Athens’ Brendan Cooke (football), Athens’ Dylan Saxon (golf), Athens’ Eli Hicks (golf), Athens Chase Ingram (soccer), Athens’ Zac Fisher (soccer and football).

ATHENS’ LYON NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”
Lyon fired a career-best round of 86, which was good for third on the team, to help Athens to a first-place finish at the NTL golf match at Wellsboro’s Tyoga Country Club. It was the team’s 18th straight win.

Lyon shot a non-scoring round of 99 on Thursday at the Towanda Country Club as the Wildcats extended their win streak.
