NTL GOLF: ATHENS BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD IN 20TH STRAIGHT LEAGUE WIN (10 PHOTOS) (2024-09-03)
Valley Sports ReportMANSFIELD — Athens won its 19th consecutive NTL golf match, and broke a school record in the process here Tuesday afternoon at Corey Creek Golf Club.
The Wildcats shot a four-player aggregate score 0f 317, eclipsing the previous school record of 319, which was set in the first match of 2023 at Shepard Hills.
Sophomore Eli Hicks led Athens with a round of 74, which included a double eagle-2 on the par-5 12th hole.
Senior Dylan Saxon shot a 77, while freshman Ty Owen carded an 81, and freshman Brooke Lyon fired an 85.
Senior Brady Darrow added a non-scoring round of 95 for the Wildcats, and sophomore Lucas Greninger tacked on a 105.
North Penn-Mansfield finished second on the day with a 333, while Towanda was third with a 343, and Wyalusing was fourth at 363. Cowanesque Valley finished fifth at 405, with Wellsboro sixth at 413, and Sayre seventh at 567.
Athens improves to 24-0 on the season, while Towanda sits in second place at 19-5.
The NTL golfers return to action Tuesday at the River Valley Country Club in Westfield, Pa.
