Valley Sports ReportTIOGA JUNCTION, Pa. — Hayden Plunkert scored early in the second overtime to lift Williamson to a 1-0 win over Athens here Thursday afternoon in NTL boys soccer action.
“It was a tough loss in overtime,” said Athens coach Jake Lezak.
“I’m very proud of how the boys played,” he noted. “We have injuries to players from Tuesday and other guys stepped it up and played well.
“We need to find a way to score goals, though,” added Lezak. “The boys are trying, listening and training hard, but it’s just not there yet … yet.”
Both teams had eight shots-on-goal, and seven corner kicks.
Sophomore Zach Fisher recorded seven saves in net for the Wildcats.
Athens, now 1-3, hosts Horseheads Saturday at 11 a.m.
