IAC BOYS SOCCER: TIOGA FALLS TO DEFENDING SMALL SCHOOL CHAMP SOUTHERN CAYUGA (14 PHOTOS) (2024-09-06)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER — Southern Cayuga built a 5-0 halftime lead, and then poured it on in the second half on its way to a 13-0 win over Tioga here Thursday afternoon in IAC Small School Division boys soccer action.
“Overall, it was a good game,” said Tioga coach Adam Layman. “We had better passing and movement, and better team chemistry.
“It’s been a hard start to the season with two of the best teams in the IAC being our first two games,” he noted.
“We will continue to work on our game and get some wins under our belt,” added Layman.
The game was a rematch of last year’s IAC Small School championship game, won by Southern Cayuga, 8-0.
Southern Cayuga had a 25-2 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
Davie VanDusen recorded 12 saves in net for the Tigers.
Davie played a fantastic game and had several hard saves,” said Layman.
Tioga hosts SVEC Friday at 6 p.m. on Haggerty Field.
