Valley Sports Report
ATHENS — Horseheads scored a goal in each half to post a 2-0 win over Athens here Saturday in non-league boys soccer action at Alumni Stadium.

The Wildcats, now 1-4, have dropped four consecutive decision, being shutout in all four.

“It’s been a tough week for the players,” said Athens coach Jake Lezak. “We have multiple guys out with injuries, and it has really made it hard on the guys who are healthy to play.

“I’m very proud of these boys and how they’ve stepped up,” he noted. “It’s been a challenging four-game stretch.

“We take out our sloppy errors and fix a few other things and the games could go our way,” added Lezak. “It’s still early in the season.”

Brayden Spier, off a feed from Ben Church, put Horseheads on the board midway through the first half.

Dominic Hugg added an unassisted goal in the second half for the Blue Raiders.
