NTL VOLLEYBALL: ATHENS, SAYRE BOTH FALL IN QUARTERFINALS AT WILLIAMSON TOURNAMENT (24 PHOTOS) (2024-09-07)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA JUNCTION, Pa. — Athens and Sayre both finished fourth in their pools, and were knocked out of bracket play in the quarterfinals of the Williamson Volleyball Tournament here Saturday.
Athens went 3-5 in Pool B. The Wildcats split with NEB, Galeton, and Coudersport, but were swept by Cowanesque Valley.
Sayre split with Northern Potter, dropping a 26-24 decision in the first set, but bouncing back for a 25-17 win in the second set.
The Redskins were swept by Williamson, Canton, and Troy.
Sayre and NoPo both finished pool play at 1-7, but the Redskins had a better point-differential to win the tie-breaker.
Athens dropped a 25-12 decision to Troy, which won Pool A, while Sayre lost 25-18 to CV, which won Pool B.
Athens returns to action Tuesday at Towanda, while Sayre hosts Cowanesque Valley.
