IAC BOYS SOCCER: SVEC TOO MUCH FOR TIOGA IN 8-1 WIN (2024-09-09)
Valley Sports ReportSPENCER — Claas Huenecke and Noah Banks had a hand in all eight SVEC goals Monday afternoon in an 8-1 win over Tioga in IAC South boys soccer action.
The game was delayed in the first half by the weather, and then called at halftime due to the weather.
“With the weather delay, it was tough for either team to get into any kind of rhythm,” said SVEC coach Jason Banks. “However, in the end, we were able to connect a few passes and create some scoring chances.”
Noah Banks scored twice in the first 10 minutes, both assisted by Huenecke to make it 3-0. His goals were sandwiched around a goal by Huenecke, assisted by Banks.
After a 45-minute rain delay, Huenecke scored two goals, the first assisted by Banks, in a five minute span to extend the lead to 5-0.
Kyle Jantz, off a feed from Banks, made it 6-0 in the 17th minute, then Huenecke, assisted by Karson Kenville, scored two minutes later.
Banks netted an unassisted goal in the 25th minute to give the Eagles an 8-0 lead.
The Tigers avoided the shutout in the 31st minute on an unassisted goal by Schanbacher.
“Give credit to Jace Schanbacher for working hard the whole half,” said Banks. “As a result of his determination earned Tioga a goal.”
SVEC had a 14-4 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 1-0 edge in corner kicks.
Tioga keeper David VanDusen and SVEC’s Sirron Irvin each recorded three saves.
