NTL GOLF: SAXON LEADS ATHENS TO ANOTHER LEAGUE WIN; CATS STRETCH WIN STREAK TO 21 (19 PHOTOS) (2024-09-10)

WESTFIELD — Senior Dylan Saxon earned low-medal honors on the day to lead Athens to a two-stroke win over North Penn-Mansfield in NTL boys golf action here Tuesday at the River Valley Golf Course.

The Wildcats improve to 30-0 on the season, and have won 20 consecutive league matches.

Athens shot a four-player aggregate score of 319, while NP-M shot a 321, and third-place Towanda carded a 327. Wellsboro was fourth with a 363, while Wyalusing was fifth with a 367, Cowanesque Valley was sixth at 387, and Sayre was seventh at 509.

Saxon, who eagled the par-4 first hole with a chip-in from 80 yards out, shot a 1-over par round of 72.

Sophomore Eli Hicks finished tied for fourth on the day with a round of 80, and freshman Ty Owen was sixth with an 81, and senior Brady Darrow was 10th with an 86.

Freshman Brooke Lyon and sophomore Lucas Greninger shot non-scoring rounds of 91 and 94, respectively.

NP-Mansfield’s Andy Hermansen was second on the day with a 74, and his teammate Tate Strange was third with a 79. Towanda’s Boom Thompson tied Hicks for fourth with an 80.

Sayre’s Brayden Schrader shot a season-best round of 97, and Shaine Strickland added a 115 for the Redskins.

The NTL golfers return to action Monday at Shepard Hills.
