NTL CROSS COUNTRY: BRONSON, WANCK LEAD ATHENS TEAMS TO WINS OVER NP-M (2024-09-10)
Valley Sports ReportMANSFIELD — Senior Sara Bronson and sophomore Graham Wanck led the Athens girls and boys to wins over North Penn-Mansfield here Tuesday afternoon in NTL cross country action.
BOYS
Athens 22, NP-Mansfield 34Wanck finished second — just one second behind NP-M’s Michael Koefley — in a time of 17:58 to lead four Wildcats in the top five in a win over the Tigers.
Sophomore Jacob Shores and senior Ethan Hicks finished third and fourth, respectively, in a time of 18:58, and sophomore Matthew Rossettie was fifth in 19:33.
Senior Gehrig Thurston was eighth in a time of 22:22, while senior Lohith Kinthala was 10th in 22:47, junior Aiden Oldroyd was 12th in 23:12, sophomore Ryder Morley was 13th in 23:42, and junior Pierce Oldroyd was 14th in 23:50.
Junior Andrew DeForest was 16th for the Wildcats in 25:08, while freshmen Darious Miller (26:57) and Andy Garrison (27:09) finished 17th and 18th, respectively.
GIRLS
Athens 24, NP-Mansfield 31Bronson won in a time of 20:47, leading four Wildcats in the top six in a win over NP-M.
Freshman Alissa Vaughn finished third in a time of 21:52, while junior Ava Hughes was fourth in 23:27, sophomore Haylie Horton was sixth in 25:26, and sophomore Grace Ellsworth was 10th in 25:52.
Senior Kaelin Roelle (30:48), freshman Marlene Roelle (32:22), senior Maryrose Bertsch (33:22), freshman Joelle Vaughn (34:11), and freshman, Tatyana Nasser (34:12) finished 12th through 16th, respectively.
JUNIOR HIGHMicah Simwale finished third in a time of 11:22 to pace the Wildcats in the junior high race, while Stella Unger was fourth in 11:23, Adeline Burnett was fifth in 11:42, Austin Nason was sixth in 12:55, and Paisley Smith was seventh in 13:31
Athens returns to action Friday at the Owego Night Invite.
