OWEGO — Athens senior Sara Bronson won the Small School Division race at the Owego Night Cross Country Invite here Friday night, and four other Valley girls finished in the top six. The Wildcats also finished second in the team standings.

Bronson, who finished third overall behind Ithaca ace Tsadia Bercuvitz (13:52.0) and Ithaca freshman standout Avery Whittaker (15:26.7), clocked in with a time of 15:32.7.

Bronson, and sophomore Graham Wanck also received the Bob Fenton Award for the fastest time of the night in their grade.

Athens freshman Alyssa Vough (10th overall) was third in the Small School race in a time of 16:57.0, while Waverly senior Harper Minaker  (11th overall) was fourth in the  in 16:58.1, Waverly junior Mackenzie Chamberlain (12th overall) was fifth in 17:02.1, and Athens junior Ava Hughes (13th overall) was sixth in 17:09.5.

NEB claimed the team title with 45 placement points, while Athens tallied 49,
Chenango Forks was third with 88, North Penn-Mansfield was fourth with 95, and Newark Valley was fifth with 125 points.

Athens sophomore Haylie Horton finished 27th in the Small School event in a time of 19:27, while sophomore Grace Ellsworth was 31st in 19:43, junior Karolin Roelle was 49th in 21:18.2, and freshman Tatyana Nasser was 61st in 22:49.4.

Senior Maryrose Bertsch was 82nd for the Wildcats in 25:31.4, and sophomore Joelle Vaughn was 84th in 25:34.6.

Sophomore Taylor Sinsabaugh finished 35th for the Wolverines in 19:59.8, and freshman Isabella Minaker was 63rd in 23:01.4.

Senior Brooke Delmage was 72nd in 24:34.1 to pace Tioga’s contingent, while sophomore Kendall Ward was 76th in 25:00.3, and senior Alicia Bennett was 83rd in 25:33.8.

Freshman Maddie Burrowes (29:38.4), freshman Brooklin Lynch (29:58.8), and sophomore Lacey Ward (30:22.9) finished 97th through 99th, respectively for the Tigers.

JUNIOR HIGH

Athens’ Stella Unger finished second in the junior high Small School Division race in a time of 11:41.8 and Addie Burnett was eighth in 12:08.6. Paisley Smith was 33rd in 14:23.7.

Irie Lynch paced Tioga’s efforts with a 15th-place finish in a time of 12:44.3, while Reese Mills was 26th in 13:33.0, Brooke Delmage was 41st in 14:59.9, Evelynne Rathe was 50th in 16:09.6, Maren Seaver was 53rd in 16:55.8, and Ahliyah Coyle was 58th in 17:25.4. Jayda Philhower was 68th in a time of 19:32 for the Tigers, and Emma Swartz (20:30.5) and Noel Williams (21:09.0) were 70th and 71st, respectively.
