Valley Sports ReportOWEGO — Athens sophomore Graham Wanck finished fourth overall, and second in the Small School Division race here Friday night at the Owego Night Cross Country Invite to lead the Wildcats to a fourth-place finish in the team standings.
Wanck and senior Sara Bronson also received the Bob Fenton Award for the fastest time of the night in their grade.
Northeast Bradford won the team title with 35 placement points, while Troy was second with 67, Montrose was third with 113, and Athens tallied 138. Waverly was sixth with 179 points.
Sophomore Jacob Shores (35th overall), was 17th in a time of 14:40.3 for the Wildcats in the Small School race, and sophomore Matt Rossettie (46th overall) was 23rd in 14:57.0.
Senior Aiden Oldroyd (17:28.8), senior Gehrig Thurston (17:35.4), and senior Lohith Kinthala (17:35.4) were 60th, 61st, and 63rd, respectively, for the Wildcats.
Sophomore Chase Hines finished 27th in a time of 15:17.2 to pace Waverly, while junior Hayden Howe was 28th in 15:17.9, and senior Nic Mattison was 30th in 15:29.0.
Freshman Hayden Montanye finished 59th for the Wolverines in a time of 17:18.6, while sophomore Jayden Washington was 70th in 18:07.9, and freshman Garret Akins was 96th in 23:52.7
Junior Talon Wood led Tioga with a 38th-place finish in a time of 16:02.8, and freshman Carter Allen was 98th in 26:19.1.
JUNIOR HIGHAthens’ Micah Simwale was the top Valley finisher in the junior high race, finishing 18th in a time of 11:54, and Austin Nason was 42nd in 13:07.
Mason Rink represented Tioga with a 48th-place finish in a time of 13:22.
