NTL BOYS SOCCER: ATHENS TOPS GALETON, 4-1 (2024-09-14)
Valley Sports ReportGALETON — Athens controlled play throughout in a 4-1 win over Galeton here Saturday night in NTL boys soccer action.
The Wildcats had an 11-4 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
Athens opened the scoring in the 13th minute on a goal by sophomore Brycen Wood, off an assist from junior Chase Ingram, to make it make it 1-0.
About five minutes later, Ingram, off an assist from senior Troy Rosenbloom, found the back of the net to extend the lead to 2-0.
With 1:44 remaining in the first half, senior Braden Quinn, off another assist from Rosenbloom, gave the Wildcats a 3-0 lead heading into the halftime intermission.
Early in the second half, Rosenbloom found the net himself, off a feed from freshman Patrick Umber, to up the advantage to 4-0.
Galeton scored midway through the second half to provide the final margin.
Sophomore Zac Fisher recorded three saves in net for the Wildcats
Athens, now 3-4-1, hosts Towanda Wednesday.
