STAC GIRLS SWIMMING: QUAD-WINNER KITTLE LEADS WAVERLY TO 96-32 WIN OVER NORWICH (2024-09-17)

NORWICH — Led by quad-winner junior Mira Kittle, Waverly won seven of nine events to post a 96-32 win over Norwich here Tuesday afternoon in STAC girls swimming action.

Freshman Lauryn Welles and junior Olivia Cheresnowsky were triple-winner for the Wolverines, who improve to 2-0 on the season, and 8th-grader Megan Atanasoff was a double-winner.

Kittle led a sweep in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.12 seconds, while Cheresnowsky was second in 26.19, and Atanasoff was third in 26.73 seconds.

Kittle won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:02.47, and 8th-grader Ayla Wheeler was second in 1:17.29.

Kittle teamed with Cheresnowsky, Welles, and Atanasoff to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:45.14, and the foursome of Wheeler, and 8th-graders Natalie Steck, Brynna Twedt, and Audrey Kellogg was second in 1:52.65.

Kittle, Cheresnowsky, and Atanasoff teamed with Kellogg to win the meet-closing 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:06.14, and the foursome of Wheeler, Steck, Twedt, and Welles was second in 4:23.57.

Welles led a sweep the 100-yard freestyle in time of 58.63 seconds, while Atanasoff was second in 59.12 seconds, and Kellogg was third in 59.72 seconds.

Welles also won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:21.44, and Steck was second in 1:24.44.

Cheresnowsky led a sweep in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:10.09, while Kellogg was second in 1:17.61, and Wheeler was third in 1:24.44

Vada Harmon was second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 7:19.38, and Sophie Williams was third in 7:34.39.

Steck finished third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:27.23.

Waverly returns to action Saturday at the Watkins Glen Invitational.
