NTL JUNIOR HIGH FOOTBALL: TROY PULLS AWAY FROM ATHENS IN SECOND HALF (2024-09-18)
Valley Sports ReportTROY — Troy used a strong running game to power past Athens, 34-6, here in NTL junior high football action.
The Trojans drove 60 yards in eight plays on the opening possession of the game to take a 6-0 lead.
The Wildcats answered with a seven-play drive to tie the game.
Shea Davidson connected with Iziah Bailey for 31 yards early in the possession, then capped the drive with a 7-yard TD pass to Eli Wayman to make it 6-6.
Troy drove into Athens territory on its ensuing possession, but the Wildcat defense stiffened, and forced a turnover on downs.
Athens fumbled the ball away on the next play, and Troy took advantage with a short scoring drive to make it 12-6 at the half.
The Trojans scored three second-half TDs, including a pick-six to provide the final margin.
Athens returns to action at Wyalusing Wednesday at 6 p.m.
