TIOGA’S HANEY TIES SCHOOL RECORD FOR CAREER GOALS

TIOGA — Eighth-grader Grace Howey scored two goals, and doles out two assists to lead Tioga to a 4-1 win over Odessa-Montour here Wednesday night in IAC South Small School Division girls soccer action at Haggerty Field.

Junior Sophia Haney also found the back of the net, tying the school record with her 35th career goal. She shares the record with 2011 grad Kara McDuffee.

Howey, off a feed from senior Erica Bradley, broke a scoreless tie about 10 minutes into the game, then scored an unassisted goal about 4 1/2 minutes later to make it 2-0.

With 18:38 remaining, Haney took a feed from Howey in the middle of the field, beat a pair of O-M defenders and fired a shot into the upper-90 to make it 3-0.

Bradley, off an assist from Howey, finished off the scoring about 90 seconds after the halftime intermission.

Leah Antes put O-M on the board with 26:46 remaining in the contest.

Tioga had a 20-18 advantage in shots-on-goal, while O-M had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Senior Taliah Speer recorded 10 saves in net for the Tigers.

Tioga, now 4-0, hosts Groton Friday afternoon.
